On 30 March, 2022, the van der Schaar Lab invited practising clinicians to the fifteenth virtual instalment of the Revolutionizing Healthcare engagement sessions.
The session featured three of the most prominent visionaries in healthcare:
- Prof. Eric Topol, MD (Founder and Director of the Scripps Research Translational Institute, Professor of Molecular Medicine at The Scripps Research Institute, and Senior Consultant at the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at Scripps Clinic)
- Prof. Euan Ashley, MD (Professor of Medicine and Genetics at Stanford University in California; Founding director of the Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease, Clinical Genomics Program; Co-director of Stanford Medicine Catalyst)
- Prof. Geraint Rees, MD (UCL Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation & Global Engagement) and Pro-Provost (Academic Planning); Dean of the UCL Faculty of Life Sciences)
Over the course of three insightful, energetic, and often provocative discussions, Profs. Ashley, Rees, and Topol shared their personal views on the state of AI and machine learning in healthcare, as well as their respective visions for AI-powered healthcare systems of the future.
Following these discussions, we opened the session up to our audience of clinicians, who shared their own views on the topics Mihaela had discussed with our three leading clinical voices.
