We are very proud to consistently be represented at the world’s largest and most prestigious AI and machine learning conferences with our cutting-edge research, impactful papers, and participating in fruitful workshops as part of the conferences.
When the Fortieth International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML 2023) takes place from 23 – 29 July, the van der Schaar lab will be well-represented with 6 accepted papers at the leading international academic conference in machine learning.
Along with NeurIPS and ICLR, ICML is one of the 3 primary conferences of high impact in machine learning and artificial intelligence research. Collectively, these papers touch on some of the most important areas within the lab’s extensive research agenda, including causal deep learning, clinical trials, treatment effect estimation, synthetic data and deep learning for tabular data.
Based on the work at the van der Schaar lab on cutting-edge machine learning methods for complex and important problems, all of the papers offer substantial technical contributions in areas that we believe are particularly promising and that further the lab’s research agenda on cutting-edge machine learning for healthcare.
Titles and authors for all 6 papers are given below:

DMLR Workshop
In addition to the papers directly presented by our lab, Prof Mihaela van der Schaar will also give a keynote talk about Data Quality at the “DMLR Workshop: Data-centric Machine Learning Research“. Learn more about our lab’s approach to data-centric AI and ML here.
You can find all information about the workshop here.
Counterfactuals in Minds and Machines Workshop
Prof Mihaela van der Schaar is also invited to speak at the “ICML Workshop on counterfactuals in Minds and Machines“. There she will contribute her expertise in Causal Deep Learning. Explore our Research Pillar on that topic here.
